The northern Lake District has a huge variety of holiday attractions to suit every taste within easy range of the cottage. A collection of up to date brochures are ready for you to browse through on arrival. Good walking starts from the house, either up Blencathra, which towers 2847 feet above the village, or over fields, lanes and lower fells for the less adventurous.
The nearest supermarkets are in Keswick (3 miles), which also has a Tourist Information office, Theatre, Museum, Swimming pool, a Saturday open-air market, lots of interesting shops and galleries (with more hiking equipment shops thatn most places in the country!) and a variety of good eating places.
